The 2022 Jazz al Parque Festival lineup features artists such as young Indonesian pianist Joey Alexander, Puerto Rican saxophonist David Sánchez, Puerto Rican singer iLe, Brazil’s Guinga, Uruguay’s Julieta Rada, and Colombian groups Fatua Trío from Nariño and Papayebrass from the Atlántico region.
In addition to these names, there are the winning groups from Bogota from the Portafolio Distrital de Estímulos (District Incentives Portfolio). This completes the musical program of Jazz al Parque 2022, which will take place on September 17 and 18 at El Country Park in Bogota. In addition, the festival will include an opening gala on September 15, as well as several academic sessions, including talks and workshops, all of which are free and open to the public.
“After nearly three years of absence, we’re bringing back Jazz al Parque with an innovative and bold lineup that will prove that jazz is not just for a minority. On the contrary, it is a universal and diverse language that brings all audiences together,” said Mauricio Galeano, Acting Director of the Bogotá’s District Institute of the Arts – Idartes.
Since early 2022, the festival has been announcing its international guests. First came the confirmation of David Sánchez, followed by jazz prodigy Joey Alexander, born in Indonesia and based in the U.S. Then came announcements of iLe, former member of the iconic band Calle 13 and now a renowned solo artist; Julieta Rada, singer, songwriter, and producer from Uruguay; and Laura Valbuena, a Colombian musician born in Ubaté, Cundinamarca and currently based in Austria. At just 27 years old, she has built a remarkable international career as a saxophonist and clarinetist, and will perform with her project Entre Nos Quinteto at Parque El Country.Prensa
