Daniella Cura is a cultural manager, curator and feminist music researcher born in Barranquilla, Colombia. In a career spanning more than 10 years, she’s played a leading role in major Latin American festivals and cultural projects. She has published three books and several articles on topics such as music and feminism, popular music and cultural heritage.

Daniella holds a degree in Liberal Arts in Social Sciences with a Master’s degree in Artistic Leadership and Cultural Management from Colorado State University. She also has musical studies with an emphasis on composition. All the projects she has led have contributed to positioning the work of talented artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, attracting new audiences and opening new spaces for their artistic work. In December 2019, she published “Esther Forero. La Caminadora,” a book that explores the life and music of Esther Forero and other female artists, contributing to discussions of feminist musicology in Latin America.
From 2020 to 2022, Daniella worked as the artistic curator of the Jazz Al Parque Festival, one of the largest jazz festivals in South America, organized by the city of Bogotá.
In 2018, with the support of the Mingus Institute, Daniella Cura and Cesar Gómez co-founded and directed this music collective based on legendary musician Charles Mingus’ vision of fusing North American jazz and Colombian tropical music.
The 2022 edition of the Jazz Al Parque Festival was the birthplace of the first Bogotá Female Big Band, a big band entirely comprised of female jazz and Colombian popular music musicians.
